Track expansion rated positively

As reported in “Rheinische Post”, the expansion to dual track between Kaldenkirchen and Dülken will be part of Germany’s Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan from 2015 onward.[more]

Project milestones

January 2013

The benefit-cost analysis of the double-track upgrading Dülken-Kaldenkirchen, as a first outcome of the joint preliminary planning improving the cross-border rail connection Düsseldorf-Eindhoven, is completed. The study includes infrastructure requirements, infrastructure planning, cost estimation and a cost-benefit analysis.

With a benefit-cost ratio of 17,7 the cost-benefit analysis shows clearly an added value of the double-track upgrading.

The Metropolregion Rheinland (cooperation of Lord Mayors, District Administrators and Chambers of Industry and Commerce) and the Regional Council (regional planning authority) have given their supportive vote.

Now the results of the analysis serve as a basis for the application of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan.
